New Money for a New Year

It rained pennies last night in Manhattan. We picked 13 of them up this morning. And a quarter.

.38 but not quite a Saturday Night Special (it was a Thursday)

Congrats on the New Year coin finds! My family and I started hunting for coins last year in July. It's a lot of fun-and over the weeks and months-it's amazing what one can come up with. We are blogging about our finds as well. We are The Lincoln Penny Project from Seattle.

We had the opportunity to visit New York a couple of years ago before they shut down the old Yankees Stadium. We also toured Manhattan. What an awesome place.

Looking forward to seeing more of your blog in the future.

Take care,
Steve from Seattle

I've visited New York once, in 1988, on my way back from living in London. I was there for a week. I am now a mum, aged 44, with a 15 year old. Recently she was rifling through an old jewellery box of mine and found a ring she loved. I told her I found it on the streets of New York. It was true. One wet night I was staggering back to my hotel, when I found a lot of jewellery on the footpath, it looked pretty decrepid - I don't think it's valuable, but it was a nice souvenir. There were earrings, a crucifix and rings, and the earrings didn't match.
